The output of refined and crude arsenic in the United States in 1922, according to final reports received from producers, amounted to 9350 short tons. Arsenic from stocks on hand increased the available supply to 10,027 tons, all of which was sold for ,475,229, or an average of 7.36 cents a pound. The sales of crude arsenic, 70 to 94.8 per cent pure, amounted to 1,122 tons, which was sold at an average of 6.2 cents a pound. Most of the output was converted at the point of production into sodium arsenite for weed killing, and some of it that was sold in small lots was exported for agricultural uses. The sales of white or refined arsenic, 99.5 per cent pure, amounted to 8,905 short tons, valued at ,336,041, or 7.50 cents a pound. Red sulphide or realgar recovered from ore treated by flotation at Gold bar, Wash., was placed on the market to compete with the sublimed product shipped from germany. On elemental arsenic was reported except some metal from Germany that was resold. The table below includes the production of arsenic from all sources in the United States from the opening of the first plant at Everett, Wash., in 1901, to the end of 1922.
