Las bibliotecas militares españolas custodian tanto un valioso patrimonio histórico bibliográfico como modernos y especializados fondos. Todas ellas dependen del Ministerio de Defensa y se organizan en forma de red cooperativa. Durante años han sido las grandes desconocidas para los usuarios en general y sólo eran visitadas, además del personal militar por investigadores. Sin embargo en los últimos años la situación está cambiando gracias a varios proyectos que les están permitiendo hacerse visibles a la sociedad como la creación del Catálogo Colectivo y de la Biblioteca Virtual de Defensa que permite acceder a los registros y a los propios documentos por internet.

The Spanish military libraries guard so much a valuable bibliographical and historical patrimony as such modern and specialized archives and collections. All of them belong on the Ministry of Defense and they are organized in form of cooperative network. During years they have been unknow for the users in general and single they were visited, in addition to the military personnel by investigators. Nevertheless in the last years the situation is changing thanks to several projects that are allowing them to become visible to the society like the creation of the Collective Catalogue and of the Virtual Library of Defense that allows to accede to the registries and own documents by Internet.
