La lucha por la autonomía universitaria en América Latina surge desde el Manifiesto de Córdoba en 1918. En este artículo analizamos el concepto y la historia de la autonomía universitaria en Bolivia. La conquista de la Autonomía en 1930, la Revolución Universitaria de 1970, la resistencia ante las intervenciones gubernamentales, el Primer Congreso Interno de la UMSA, los ataques del gobierno de Evo Morales al sistema universitario público y las perspectivas actuales de la lucha universitaria. La autonomía universitaria es una herramienta al servicio de las transformaciones sociales, cuando se liga con las luchas sociales.

The struggle for university autonomy in Latin America begins with the Manifest of Cordoba in 1918. In this article we analyze the concept and history of university autonomy in Bolivia. The conquest of Autonomy in 1930, the University Revolution of 1970, the resistance of government interventions, the first internal Congress of the UMSA, the attacks of the Evo Morales government's on the public university system and the current perspectives of university struggle. University autonomy is a tool for social transformation, when linked to social struggles.
