Beyond LawResumen: The tragic cruelty of september 11, 2001, and its still unfolding aftermath, marks the beginning of the end of hegemonic patterns of the monopoly of force on which much of modern contemporary international law "rests". Such critical events have disrupted the extant westhhalian notions of international legality and visions od world order in many ways. First, performative feats of global diplomacy now aim to produce a resilient consensus, not entirely ephhemeral, providing "justifications" for a global "war" against "terrorism". Second a "network" global society now generates "network" international law. Third, all this entails a new kind of networking or orders of state sovereignties, where a large number of national, regional, and global agencies crisscross to fashion unusual, even extraordinarily shifting, yet "vital" strategic alliances.
