El presente artículo se propone realizar un análisis mitocrítico sucinto al motivo etiológico del “asesinato del hijo” dentro del mito indocubano de Guanaroca y su comparación con el mito arahuaco del surgimiento del mar en la Relación de fray Ramón Pané. Para ello, se han diseccionado ambas composiciones en seis mitemas colocados en una tabla analítica, lo cual permite la lectura diacrónica y sincrónica de los mitos abordados con el objetivo de lograr una mejor interpretación de sus estructuras narrativas e intencionalidad mitopoiética, además de buscar paralelismos significativos que sugieran un sustrato histórico cultural común. The present work proposes a succinct mythocritical analysis of the etiological motif of the “murder of the son” in the Indo-Cuban myth of Guanaroca and its comparison with the Arawak myth of “the emergence of the sea” in the Relación of Fray Ramón Pané. For this purpose, both compositions have been dissected in six mythemes, which have been placed in a comparative table, which allows the diachronic and synchronic reading of the myths approached, with the objective of achieving a better interpretation of their narrative structures and mythopoetic intentionality, besides looking for significant parallels that suggest a common cultural historical substratum
