Contiene: The exhibition of native costumes of highlan Puebla presented by the Museo Nacional de Artes e Industrias Populares includes some articles from those regions of the states of Hidalgo and Vercruz that ethnically can be grouped with highland Puebla. The Indians speak Nahuatl, Tepehua, Otomí and Totonac. In spite of the variety of climates and altitudes, as well as distinct cultural and economic factors at work, these Indians share the following traits: a well-developed textile industry; predominance of the quechquemitl; the production of bark paper from a special kind of fig tree (amate); certain practices of magic and witchcraft in which cut-out paper figures are used, and certain dances.
