Firts and foremost, they are relevant and peculiar architectural complexes. In fact, in the XIX century it was quite common for cities to entrust their best architects with the realization of "new" graveyards. Thanks to the priciples of Enlightenment and its cultural commitment (and, in many countries, thanks to Napoleon`s administrative decrees), they replaced the usual churchyard burials. Despite a sizable decrease in the interest for such sites, in the XX century, too, quite a number of examples show that cementery building was a relevant aspect in the evolution of architecture.Existencias: 1
