520 _aVanuatu´s history dates back to 4.000 years. The islands were believed to have been inhabited by Austronesian speaking settlers. Some archaeological findings, like pottery fragments dated to between 1300 and 1100 B.C. have been found. Very few written accounts have been found relating to Vanuatu before the 1600s.
